Empowering employee-led communities with Epoch: ERGs and DEIB

Summary

Epoch supports DEIB and ERG programs by simplifying event creation, streamlining operations, and enabling meaningful feedback collection to improve future initiatives.

Like we’ve done with Braze, Miro, and Asana, we help our customers give their teams the autonomy to manage and create impactful events with ease – meeting employees where they already are by integrating with the tools they use every day.

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are transforming how employees connect and engage. These groups bring together individuals with shared experiences or interests, creating a sense of community and enhancing the overall employee experience. They’re crucial for fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), making our workplaces not just more inclusive but also more connected.

At Epoch, we’re dedicated to helping our customers maximize the potential of their ERGs by integrating seamlessly with the tools teams already use every day, simplifying event creation and management, and streamlining feedback collection.

Below, we highlight Epoch's impact on supporting our customers with their DEIB and ERG initiatives across several organizations.

Autonomy for ERGs at Braze

At Braze, where there are 11 employee resource groups, autonomy is key to running successful ERG events. Before adopting Epoch, Braze’s Employee Experience team handled all ERG event scheduling and logistics manually, which was time-consuming and made it difficult for employees to know when events were happening. Epoch transformed this by giving each employee a holistic view of events on their personalized dashboard. ERG Leads can now create events, collect questionnaire data before an event (i.e. dietary restrictions), send invites, and collect feedback following the event.

Braze’s ERGs can now operate independently. This streamlined process has made it easier for employees to engage in ERG activities and take ownership of their events, strengthening the sense of community and inclusion.

Streamlining ERG feedback & gaining executive buy-in at Miro

With Epoch, Miro’s ERGs now have a simple framework for event creation and participation tracking, allowing them to focus more on their initiatives rather than logistics.

One of the biggest advantages Miro’s ERGs have seen is the ability to collect personalized feedback seamlessly. Epoch’s feedback tools help ERGs refine future events and justify additional resources and budgets for their programs. The ease of organizing events and gathering insights has allowed Miro’s ERG leaders to spend more time building communities that reflect their members' needs, and less time on administrative tasks.

Customized event planning at Asana

At Asana, customization is crucial for their employee engagement efforts. With Epoch, employees can easily find events that align with their interests, time zones, and community groups. According to Ashley Frabasilio, Asana’s Employee Engagement Manager, “When Asana employees have an interest in a topic, they can sort and search based on their interests, time zones, or through different community groups. And then in a matter of seconds, that event is on their calendar.”

This flexibility allows ERGs to reach employees where they are, making it easier for everyone to engage with the events and initiatives that matter most to them.

Simplified event creation and analytics at Toast

For Toast, a global company with 10 hubs, Epoch’s platform has been instrumental in simplifying event creation, enabling ERG leaders to easily organize and promote events. In addition to this, Epoch’s robust data and analytics tools have allowed Toast to track the success of its programs, continuously improving them based on attendee feedback and engagement levels. With Epoch, Toast can deliver more impactful programs that resonate with employees across the company.

Scaling DEI programs at Modus Create

Modus Create has seen a growing demand for DEI and Learning & Development programs, and Epoch supported these initiatives on a global scale. According to Fio Montero, Employee Engagement Manager at Modus, “The metrics and data from Epoch have been huge for us in meeting employees where they are.”

With employees spread across 54 countries, having access to data on which teams are engaging with which programs has allowed Modus to tailor their DEI and L&D events to meet the needs of its diverse, global workforce.
